Two people were killed when a private car overturned after colliding with a road divider on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur on early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 45, of Noakhali’s Sonaimuri upazila and Ibrahim, 36, of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.

Confirming the matter, Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Naojor Highway Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound private car collided with the road divider when it reached Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakair upazila at about 4:00am on Sunday.

‘Two people in the car died on the spot. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations,’ said OC Shahadat.
